The 2026-27 NBA regular season officially commenced on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, with a tripleheader featuring the Boston Celtics at the Detroit Pistons, the Philadelphia 76ers against the New York Knicks, and the Oklahoma City Thunder at the San Antonio Spurs. Opening night highlighted significant player developments, including LeBron James making his season debut with the Philadelphia 76ers. Roster shifts include Jaylen Brown joining the 76ers and Giannis Antetokounmpo joining Bam Adebayo on the Miami Heat. The New York Knicks enter the season as defending champions. As the opening week continues, the Los Angeles Clippers opened their season at the Intuit Dome against the Sacramento Kings. The Clippers' roster has undergone a transformation following the departures of James Harden to Cleveland and Kawhi Leonard to Toronto. However, Bradley Beal is starting the season on the injury report due to knee issues. In Los Angeles, the Lakers opened their season with a 127-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors at Crypto.com Arena. The matchup marked the first official game of the Luka Dončić era following the departure of LeBron James. Dončić led the Lakers with 28 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, including a notable half-court shot at the end of the second quarter. New center Walker Kessler recorded 26 points and nine rebounds on a perfect 12-of-12 shooting from the field, becoming only the second player in franchise history, alongside Wilt Chamberlain, to make every shot attempt in a game with at least 12 field goal attempts. Kessler also recorded 10 dunks, the most by a Lakers player since 2003. The game was marked by tension between Dončić and Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg. ## Claims - The Los Angeles Clippers are playing the Sacramento Kings at the Intuit Dome to start the 2026-27 season.
