The 2026 Bathurst 1000 concluded with a dramatic victory for Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood of Dick Johnson Racing. The duo set a new race record of 5h 54m 04s, breaking their previous mark by nearly four minutes.

The race outcome was heavily influenced by a fuel calculation error by Team 18, which caused race leader Anton De Pasquale to run out of fuel on the final lap of the 161-lap event. Following the finish, racing legend Mark Skaife expressed “deep frustration” regarding the strategic failure by the Chevrolet homologation squad.

Other notable aspects of the event included a top-ten debut by rookie Bayley Hall and a tribute to the late Peter Brock, marking 20 years since his passing.
