The tournament introduced a new format featuring 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams divided into two groups of six, followed by direct elimination semifinals and finals. As the men’s competition progressed, the host nation, Czechia, secured early victories against Poland and Switzerland. Other undefeated teams in the men’s division included defending champions Sweden and Scotland. Poland also recorded a win against Norway following an initial loss to the host nation. By October 28, the Czech men’s team, led by skip Lukáš Klíma, achieved three consecutive victories by defeating Poland, Switzerland, and Norway. This performance placed them at the top of Group B alongside Sweden, positioning them to reach the semifinals. The Polish men’s team saw mixed results, recording a 6:2 win over Norway but losing to both the Czech Republic and Spain. In the women’s competition, Scotland, Sweden, and Switzerland have secured playoff spots. Scotland clinched its position after an extra-end victory against Estonia. Conversely, the Czech women’s team has faced difficulties, recording losses against Switzerland, Italy, and Latvia, which has significantly reduced their chances of reaching the semifinals. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-28: Ostrava hosts European Curling Championships 2026 The European Curling Championships in Ostrava see the Czech men's team leading Group B, while Scotland, Sweden, and Switzerland have secured women's playoff spots. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/european-curling-championships-progress-in-ostrava ### 2026-10-26: Ostrava to host 2026 European Curling Championships Ostrava will host the 2026 European Curling Championships from October 27 to November 1, featuring 12 men's and 12 women's teams. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/european-curling-championships-to-begin-in-ostrava --- Cite as: 2026 European Curling Championships in Ostrava.
