The 2026 SSL Gold Cup, referred to as the ‘Copa do Mundo da Vela’, is scheduled to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the Marina da Glória. The competition is set to run from November 18 until December 13, utilizing the same sailing area used during the 2016 Olympics.

The tournament features 40 national teams competing in identical SSL 47 yachts to ensure that results are determined by sailor skill rather than boat design. To promote the event, a promotional sailing excursion took place on November 1 and 2, where crews from Brazil, France, Peru, and Chile sailed past Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon beaches.
