The inaugural AEW Continental Cup tournament has progressed to the semifinals. Following the opening round in Colorado Springs, where Claudio Castagnoli, Orange Cassidy, and a returning Eddie Kingston secured victories, the field was narrowed to the final eight.

In the quarterfinals held on the August 19 episode of Dynamite, Jon Moxley, the reigning AEW Continental Champion, advanced by defeating Jay White via rear naked choke. Nigel McGuinness also secured a semifinal spot by forcing Hechicero to pass out in a guillotine choke, despite competing with an ankle injury. 

Other quarterfinal matchups involving Claudio Castagnoli against Eddie Kingston and Orange Cassidy against Kyle O’Reilly were scheduled to determine the final two semifinalists. 

The tournament winners will advance to the semifinals in Glasgow, Scotland, on August 26, with the finals scheduled for the All In event at Wembley Stadium on August 30.
