The 79th Locarno Film Festival concluded with the Romanian film ‘Nu e locul tau aici’ (‘You Don’t Belong Here’), directed by Florin Șerban, receiving the top prize, the Golden Leopard (Pardo d’Oro). The drama, which examines the relationship between a single father and his teenage son, also secured the festival’s Junior Jury and Europa Cinemas Label awards.

Other notable festival honors included the Special Jury Prize for the Brazilian-German co-production ‘A Margem do Rio’, Best Director for South Korean filmmaker Hong Sang-soo, and acting awards for Kim Min-hee and Monica Bellucci. 

Following this success, Șerban is preparing a new feature titled ‘Ela, or the Diary of a Dutiful Daughter From Romania’, to be produced by his Bucharest-based label, Fantascope Films.
