Saudi Arabia has carried out multiple executions in the Medina region related to narcotics offenses. In mid-August 2026, the Ministry of Interior announced the execution of a Saudi national, Abdulaziz bin Turabi bin Lahik al-Jabri, who was convicted of promoting hashish and controlled medical tablets.

Later in the month, the government executed Idris Ibrahim, a Nigerian national, for cocaine smuggling. Ibrahim’s death sentence was upheld by both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court before being carried out via royal order. 

The Ministry of Interior has stated that these actions underscore a commitment to protecting citizens and residents from the dangers of narcotics, warning that those involved in trafficking and promotion will face the “strictest legal penalties.”
