Retailers are expanding their physical presence in Romania through new store openings and significant infrastructure investments.

In late August 2026, the Scandinavian retailer JYSK opened two new locations in Pantelimon and Câmpulung Moldovenesc. The Pantelimon store increased the company’s presence in the Bucharest metropolitan area to 24 units.

Following this, Hornbach Romania announced a 70 million euro investment to establish two new stores in Cluj-Napoca and Craiova. The Cluj-Napoca location, situated in the Urbano Shopping & Living center, is planned for an autumn 2027 opening. The Craiova project, marking the company’s first store in the Oltenia region, is scheduled to begin construction in early 2027 with an estimated opening in spring 2028.
