On August 31, a newborn baby boy was discovered alive inside a sanitary bin in a restroom at Penang International Airport. A cleaning worker located the infant, who was still attached to his umbilical cord and placenta, and he was subsequently transported to Penang Hospital for medical treatment.

Following a review of CCTV footage, police arrested a 23-year-old Malaysian woman at the Bukit Jambul Complex. Authorities also detained a 22-year-old Myanmar national working as a security guard who was found without valid travel documents. Assistant Commissioner Anuwal Ab Wahab stated that the case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code regarding the abandonment of a child under 12 years of age.
