During the 2026 Santo Domingo International Book Fair, Jesuit priest and philosopher Pablo Mella was awarded the Eduardo León Jimenes National Book Fair Prize for his work, ‘Ética de la praxis educativa. Entre la profesionalidad y el compromiso personal’. The jury recognized the book for its rigorous examination of the contemporary educational system and its use of accessible language to address ethics and values in Dominican society.

Mella announced he would donate the one million peso prize money to his publisher, Editorial Universitaria Bonó.

In addition to Mella’s recognition, the book fair highlighted the release of ‘José Mármol y la poética del pensar’ by writer Andrés Ulloa. This 490-page study, published by Búho, explores the intersections of philosophy, myth, language, and poetry in the work of Dominican poet José Mármol, who is the subject of the current book fair dedication.
