Apple TV+ is developing a ten-episode television series adaptation of ‘Cape Fear’, produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. The production features Javier Bardem as the villain Max Cady, whose release is prompted by another individual confessing to his crime. The series includes narrative changes such as Amy Adams portraying a lawyer who is married to a prosecutor played by Patrick Wilson.

Juliette Lewis is set to reprise her role as Crystal Cady in this modern reimagining, which is written and produced by Nick Antosca. Lewis has noted the complexity of the character, specifically the fascination with Crystal’s “obsessive and stalking behaviors” and the emotional contrasts required to play a character who appears welcoming while harboring hidden intentions.
