# Ethereum technical roadmap evolution > Live situation record from CLSTR: https://clstr.news/situations/20260929-ethereum-technical-roadmap-evolution > Updated: 2026-09-29T10:58:59.000Z. Sources: 40. Developments: 2. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed a long-term technical roadmap to transform the network into a ‘cryptographic world computer’ by 2030. The vision involves transitioning from a traditional blockchain model, where nodes repeat every computation, to a hybrid system that utilizes advanced cryptography to verify off-chain computations. A central component of this evolution is the integration of zero-knowledge proofs, such as SNARKs and STARKs. This approach would allow specialized machines to handle heavy workloads while the rest of the network verifies the results through compact mathematical proofs, thereby increasing scalability and reducing hardware requirements. Additionally, these proofs are expected to enhance privacy by allowing users to confirm information validity without exposing sensitive data. The roadmap identifies the Hegota upgrade, planned for 2027, as a potential turning point. Following this upgrade, the technical focus is expected to shift toward recursive STARKs, formal verification, quantum-resistant security, and mechanisms like PeerDAS for efficient data availability sampling. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-29: Vitalik Buterin proposes Ethereum evolution into cryptographic world computer Vitalik Buterin proposes evolving Ethereum into a ‘cryptographic world computer’ by 2030, using mathematical proofs to improve scalability, efficiency, and privacy. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/vitalik-buterin-proposes-ethereum-evolution-into-cryptographic-world-computer ### 2026-09-27: Ethereum roadmap: Vitalik Buterin unveils 2030 vision Vitalik Buterin has unveiled a roadmap to transform Ethereum into a 'cryptographic world computer' by 2030, shifting from redundant computation to a hybrid model using zero-knowledge proofs and off-chain tasks. 39 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ethereum-to-evolve-into-a-cryptographic-world-computer-says-vitalik-buterin --- Cite as: Ethereum technical roadmap evolution.
