Universal Pictures is assembling the ensemble cast for ‘Miami Vice ’85’, a film directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Dan Gilroy. The production, which is intended for IMAX release, is inspired by the pilot episode of the original NBC series and will focus on the corruption and excess of mid-1980s Miami.

Initial casting announcements included Andrew Schulz joining a lead cast featuring Michael B. Jordan, Austin Butler, Whitney Peak, Alden Ehrenreich, Camila Morrone, John Leguizamo, and Danny Ramirez. Subsequent casting updates confirmed Walton Goggins will join the production to play a henchman to a cartel leader portrayed by Leguizamo.

Filming is expected to begin in November, with a scheduled theatrical release on May 19, 2028.
