In late September, volunteers in Macerata conducted waste collection near the city’s medieval walls to enhance the area’s historical value. Simultaneously, in Foggia, the association ‘La Via della Felicità’ led a cleanup of Viale Giotto, collecting micro-waste to encourage responsible environmental behavior. By early October, these community-led efforts continued in other regions. In Squillace, the municipal administration organized a collective cleaning day involving citizens and local businesses to clear waste and debris from the road leading to the Madonna del Ponte Sanctuary. In Cerignola, employees from a local McDonald’s joined a national anti-littering project to clean Piazza Plebiscito, removing dozens of kilograms of waste from sidewalks and flowerbeds. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-02: Community cleaning initiatives organized in Squillace and Cerignola Community members and local workers in Squillace and Cerignola, Italy, are conducting cleaning initiatives to remove waste and improve the decorum of public roads and squares. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/community-cleaning-initiatives-organized-in-squillace-and-cerignola ### 2026-09-28: Volunteers conduct urban cleanup initiatives in Macerata and Foggia Volunteers in Macerata and Foggia, Italy, conducted local cleanup operations to remove waste and promote civic responsibility and urban decorum. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/volunteers-conduct-urban-cleanup-initiatives-in-macerata-and-foggia --- Cite as: Community environmental cleanup initiatives in Italy.
