The 2026 college football season has seen significant developments regarding coaching performance and individual player accolades.

Early in the season, Florida head coach Jon Sumrall received recognition as the best coach through September following a 4-0 start that placed the Gators at No. 8 in the AP poll.

As the season progressed, attention shifted toward the Heisman Trophy race. Analysts identified Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss as the top passer in the country. He faces competition from Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell, following a four-touchdown performance against Mississippi State, as well as Miami’s Darian Mensah and Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith.
