Sources: 14. Developments: 3. Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi competed for the vacant WBA lightweight title at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The event, co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Most Valuable Promotions, followed the WBA designating Gervonta Davis as its ‘Champion in Recess’. Floyd ‘Kid Austin’ Schofield captured the vacant WBA lightweight world title with a unanimous decision victory over Lucas Bahdi, improving his record to 20-0. The judges scored the 12-round bout 116-110, 119-108, and 115-111 in favor of Schofield. Throughout the fight, Schofield utilized speed, lateral movement, and sharp combinations to maintain control. He scored a knockdown in the third round, while Bahdi responded with a knockdown of his own in the 11th round. Despite Bahdi’s power, Schofield’s tactical boxing and cleaner punching secured the championship. Following the bout, analyst Tim Bradley suggested that while Schofield’s switch to a southpaw stance was a successful tactical shift, he may need to improve distance control and punching stability to defend the title against elite, quicker opponents. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-12: Floyd Schofield wins vacant WBA lightweight title Floyd Schofield defeated Lucas Bahdi via unanimous decision in Chicago to claim the vacant WBA lightweight world title, maintaining his undefeated record. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/floyd-schofield-wins-vacant-wba-lightweight-title ### 2026-10-09: Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi fight for vacant WBA lightweight title Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi clash for the vacant WBA lightweight title in Chicago, featuring an undercard headlined by Ricardo Sandoval's flyweight title defense. 13 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/floyd-schofield-and-lucas-bahdi-make-weight-for-wba-title-fight ### 2026-10-07: Schofield vs. Bahdi set for vacant WBA lightweight title in Chicago Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi are set to fight for the vacant WBA lightweight title in Chicago on October 9, 2026, in a Golden Boy Promotions event. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/schofield-vs-bahdi-set-for-vacant-wba-lightweight-title-in-chicago --- Cite as: Schofield and Bahdi WBA lightweight title fight.
