Infrastructure development in Morelia, Michoacán, is advancing through major transit projects. The city’s new cable car system has reached 85 percent completion and has entered a technical testing phase. This initial phase, which connects Estadio Morelos with the Monumento a Lázaro Cárdenas via four stations, is intended to reduce travel times by up to 45 percent. Testing currently involves cabin runs, electrical connections, and component verification, with load and braking tests scheduled prior to a final certification review by European specialists.

Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla noted that the 2.5 billion peso project is being funded without public debt and aims to provide sustainable mass transit for students, workers, and people with disabilities. The full system is expected to span 7.2 kilometers across two phases, with the second phase extending from the obelisk to Santa María.

Additionally, construction continues on a 51.5-kilometer second peripheral ring road. This project, involving an investment of over 3,198 million pesos, aims to connect the metropolitan area by linking various exits, including Pátzcuaro, Quiroga, Mil Cumbres, and Álvaro Obregón. A recently inaugurated 12.2-kilometer segment in the municipality of Charo now allows for travel in approximately seven minutes.
