Valor Mortis is a first-person Soulslike action-adventure RPG developed by One More Level, the studio behind Ghostrunner, and published by Lyrical Games. Set in an alternative, plague-ridden version of Napoleonic Europe, the game follows William Dowsett, a soldier of Napoleon’s Grande Armée who has been resurrected with corrupting, supernatural powers following a mysterious crimson plague.

The gameplay emphasizes visceral melee combat, utilizing mechanics such as stamina management, parrying, dashing, and posture-breaking. While firearms like muskets and pistols are available, they serve as secondary tools alongside supernatural abilities like fire transmutation and occult powers. The title distinguishes itself from typical high-fantasy Soulslike tropes by blending a historical setting with mutant magic, body horror, and parkour mechanics. Players must navigate transformed landscapes, such as the Vale of Wrath, and utilize specific mechanics like Shield Transmutation to bypass toxic gas or lighting signal towers to unlock new areas.

Following its development period, Valor Mortis was officially released on October 20, 2026.
