KAA Gent, the leader of the Jupiler Pro League, experienced a period of instability following a strong start to the season. The club suffered a 3-3 draw against amateur side Union Rochefortoise, leading to an exit from the Croky Cup, and a 2-0 loss to Braga in the Conference League.

Following these setbacks, the club rebounded with a dominant 4-0 victory against RSC Anderlecht at the Planet Group Arena. Abdelkahar Kadri opened the scoring in the 14th minute, supported by a standout performance from Araujo, who provided three assists. The match was marked by controversy when a heavy challenge by Gent’s Léo Pétrot resulted only in a yellow card following a VAR review, drawing protests from the home crowd.

This victory allowed Gent to maintain its position at the top of the league. Manager Rik De Mil emphasized the need for realism, noting that while the team remains focused on securing a top-four finish to qualify for European competition, there is still room for improvement.
