The 2026 King of Conte comedy competition introduced a significant structural change to its 19-year history by implementing a losers’ revival round for the first time. This new format allowed ten groups, mostly trios, to compete for a chance to rejoin the finals before the competition concluded on October 17.

The tournament featured a four-hour special broadcast on TBS and utilized a judging panel of 60 comedians. Notable participants included the duo Ganso Ichigo-chan, who reached the finals for the second consecutive year.

The comedy duo Gerardon, composed of Attack Nishimoto and Kamichii, secured the championship with a total of 1,342 points. Following their victory, the duo received praise for philanthropic efforts, including a comedy performance and pizza party for children at the Heiwaen orphanage in Chiba Prefecture.
