Panetolikos has experienced a significant slump in the Stoiximan Super League. Following a 5-0 defeat against AEK, head coach Giannis Anastasiou described the team’s performance as ‘disastrous’, citing defensive issues, lack of squad depth, and frequent errors.

The team subsequently entered a streak of five consecutive losses. As Panetolikos prepared to face OFI, discussions regarding the stability of Anastasiou’s position resurfaced due to the club’s decline in the league standings.

This losing streak extended to seven matches following a 3-0 defeat against Aris at the ‘Kl. Vikelidis’ stadium. Anastasiou criticized the team’s inefficiency and defensive errors, noting that Aris scored despite limited opportunities in the first half. He specifically identified a “stupid reaction” that led to the second goal as a turning point in the match. Additionally, the coach highlighted squad limitations, explaining that player absences have necessitated tactical shifts, such as playing left-footed players on the right wing.
