Marcello Fois has been awarded the 64th Premio Campiello for his novel ‘L’immensa distrazione’, published by Giulio Einaudi Editore. The winner was announced on October 3 at the Palazzo del Cinema in Venice, where Fois received 83 votes from the Jury of Three Hundred Anonymous Readers.

Fois’s winning work follows the multi-generational saga of the Manfredini family in the Emilia region, tracing their transition from a modest background to an industrial empire amidst Italy’s historical and social shifts. In his acceptance, Fois dedicated the victory to the late writer Michela Murgia.

Other recipients of the awards include Matteo Ghisleri (Campiello Giovani), Nadeesha Uyangoda (Opera Prima), Domenico Starnone (Premio Fondazione Il Campiello), and Rosella Postorino and Daniele Mencarelli (Campiello Junior).
