Sources: 12. Developments: 2. Activists in Warsaw have introduced the ‘abortomat’, a specialized locker system designed to provide anonymous and rapid access to medication for pharmacological abortions. The system consists of 22 secure compartments located at the AboTak support center on Wiejska Street, positioned directly across from the Polish Parliament. Initiated by the Abortion Dream Team in collaboration with the Canadian-based organization Women Help Women, the project aims to bypass delays associated with traditional mail delivery. Users obtain a PIN code through Women Help Women to collect pre-prepared packages from the lockers. The initiative serves as a form of protest against restrictive reproductive laws in Poland. While the law does not penalize women for performing their own abortions, it criminalizes those who assist in an unlawful termination. Consequently, legal experts have warned that operating the machine could be classified as aiding and abetting, potentially carrying prison sentences of up to three years. The launch has also drawn opposition from conservative Catholic groups. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-02: Warsaw activists launch ‘Abortomat’ pill pickup system Activists in Warsaw have launched ‘Abortomat’, a locker system for collecting medical abortion pills, located near the Polish Sejm to protest current reproductive rights laws. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/warsaw-activists-launch-abortomat-pill-pickup-system ### 2026-09-30: Activists launch “abortomat” pill locker system in Warsaw Polish activists have introduced the “abortomat,” a locker system near the Sejm providing anonymous access to abortion pills to bypass restrictive national laws. 9 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/activists-launch-abortion-pill-cabinet-in-poland --- Cite as: Abortion pill locker system launch in Warsaw.
