Initial efforts include the Piacere Abruzzo event, which features the ‘Andrea De Litio VR Experience’ to provide 360-degree views of Renaissance frescoes undergoing restoration in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. Additionally, the ‘Sguardi Plurali’ project at the Museo Nazionale d’Abruzzo (MUNDA) utilizes analog photography to promote urban regeneration and dialogue between urban centers and peripheral areas. Further developments involve the establishment of the Network of Sea and Fishing Museums of Abruzzo. This network, formed through an agreement in Pescara involving local municipalities and organizations, aims to preserve maritime memory and fishing traditions. These efforts include connecting ecomuseums to share knowledge of local maritime language and culinary heritage, as well as reenacting the ‘sciabica’ fishing technique in Falconara Marittima to showcase historical coastal practices. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-30: Abruzzo launches maritime heritage network and traditional fishing events New initiatives in Italy are working to preserve maritime heritage, including the launch of a sea and fishing museum network in Abruzzo and traditional fishing reenactments in Falconara Marittima. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/abruzzo-launches-maritime-heritage-network-and-traditional-fishing-events ### 2026-09-29: Abruzzo hosts cultural heritage and photography initiatives Abruzzo will host cultural events in October 2026, including a VR experience of Renaissance frescoes in Atri and an analog photography festival at the Museo Nazionale d’Abruzzo to promote urban regeneration. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/abruzzo-hosts-cultural-heritage-and-photography-initiatives --- Cite as: Abruzzo cultural and maritime heritage initiatives.
