The festival launched Abycine Lanza, an independent film market intended to connect audiovisual talent with financing and collaboration opportunities. Miguel Zamora, the provincial deputy for Culture, noted the initiative serves as a driver for the Spanish independent film industry. As part of the Abycine Lanza 2026 program, a discussion titled ‘Cine, nuevas audiencias y el futuro de la industria’ was scheduled for October 20 at the Cines Odeón. Featuring film critic Javi Ponzo and director Ana de Alva, the session aimed to explore the relationship between traditional cinema, social media, and changing audience consumption habits. The festival has also renewed a three-year partnership with the Association of Friends and Alumni of the University of Experience of Albacete (ALUEX). This collaboration includes the ‘Jurado de la Experiencia’, a jury composed of ALUEX members. For the first time, the ALUEX Award for best short film will include a 300-euro cash prize to promote intergenerational dialogue and active aging through cinema. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-21: Abycine International Film Festival expands industry and community roles The Abycine International Film Festival is boosting the Spanish independent film industry via its Abycine Lanza market and deepening community ties through a renewed partnership with ALUEX. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/abycine-international-film-festival-expands-industry-and-community-roles ### 2026-10-15: Abycine Lanza to host discussion on cinema and new audiences Film critic Javi Ponzo and director Ana de Alva will discuss the relationship between cinema, social media, and new audiences at the Abycine Lanza event in Albacete on October 20. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/abycine-lanza-to-host-discussion-on-cinema-and-new-audiences --- Cite as: Abycine International Film Festival activities.
