AC Milan defender Pervis Estupiñán has faced scrutiny regarding his defensive performance despite remaining a frequent starter under manager Ruben Amorim. While valued for his tactical versatility and experience in the Premier League and La Liga, Estupiñán has been criticized for errors, including a recent mistake against Lazio that resulted in a halftime substitution.

Former defender Billy Costacurta has suggested the Ecuadorian player should be benched until his man-marking improves. Adding to the debate, former player Chris Iwelumo has criticized the club’s management of the player, stating that Estupiñán appears to be in a ‘no-man’s land’ due to a lack of clear support or a defined relationship with the coaching staff.
