Academic institutions in Calabria, including the University of Calabria and the Istituto Teologico Calabro, began preparations for the 2026/2027 academic year. The University of Calabria rector encouraged student participation in campus social and cultural spaces as the new term approached.

Following the start of the academic period, the University of Calabria expanded its campus services to include weekend access starting October 10. This initiative provides seven-day access to facilities such as the Museum of Zoology, the Rimuseum, and the Botanical Garden. Additionally, the ‘F. E. Fagiani’ Humanities Area Library was reorganized to serve as a central weekend hub for various campus library collections.
