In Sechura, Peru, a 38-year-old diver, Aldo Silva Armas, died during scallop extraction. Witnesses allege that a high-speed cargo vessel may have severed his oxygen hose. Authorities are investigating the vessel to determine if safety protocols were followed.

Other reported incidents include a child's death in a water tank in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and a 19-year-old man being swept away by a river current in Colombia.
