Governors in several Nigerian states have implemented significant administrative expansions through various political and cabinet appointments.

In Edo State, Governor Monday Okpebholo approved the appointment of 4,800 special assistants. The initiative aims to strengthen grassroots governance by assigning 25 assistants to each of the state’s 192 wards, ensuring government programs reach the ward level and increasing participation for All Progressives Congress members.

In Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Alia swore in seven new cabinet commissioners and several statutory board appointees, including leadership for the Benue State Television Board and the Benue State Assembly Service Commission. Governor Alia noted these appointments are “performance-driven.”

Concurrently, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expanded his administration by appointing one commissioner, three special advisers, and 1,003 political aides, including 90 senior special assistants and 910 special assistants, to enhance service delivery.
