Cultural and maritime heritage festivals continue to be scheduled across the Adriatic and Balkan regions. In Croatia, the ‘Dani u Vali’ festival in Stari Grad on the island of Hvar is set for September 17 to 20, 2026. Organized by the CRONAVES association, the event will feature approximately 50 traditional vessels from the Adriatic, including participants from Italy and Montenegro. The program includes sailing demonstrations, workshops, and a night parade titled ‘Ples jedara i svjetla’.

Other maritime celebrations include the ‘Rota Palagruzona’ festival in Komiža and Palagruža, running from September 9 to 13. This event features a regatta following a historic 1593 fishing route, shipbuilding workshops, and presentations on the history of the Palagruža lighthouse.

Broader cultural and heritage activities are also occurring across the Balkans. In Montenegro, Bar is hosting the 21st International Oldtimer Meeting, which features over 100 classic cars from across the region, alongside screenings of the documentary film ‘Planina’. The 20th Herceg Novi Strip Festival is also noted in Montenegro. In Serbia, Belgrade is hosting the 11th Dok'n'Ritam music documentary festival and the Martovski Festival, showcasing domestic and international short films.

In Croatia, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County has released a new cookbook, ‘Iz srca na trpezu’, aimed at preserving regional gastronomic heritage, while Crikvenica held a Street Food Night. Other regional events include the Sisak Beer Festival, the Vinkovci Autumns festival, and the Hvarmony event in Hvar, which focuses on wellbeing and the ‘slow movement’.
