Medical researchers are making progress in immunotherapy for colorectal and liver cancers. In Singapore, scientists at Nanyang Technological University developed peptide microdrops that use small interfering RNA (siRNA) to deliver gene-silencing molecules. The study indicates that inhibiting SMYD2 reduces tumor growth and modifies the tumor microenvironment to improve immune response. Lead researcher Guillermo Mazzolini noted that combining SMYD2 inhibition with anti-PD-1 immunotherapy produced a greater antitumor response than either treatment alone, offering potential for patients resistant to standard immunotherapies.
