The 2026 ITTF Africa Championships in Tangier, Morocco, concluded the team phase with Egypt securing both the men’s and women’s titles. The Egyptian women’s team maintained a perfect record, defeating Tunisia 3-0 in the final to claim their 10th consecutive title. In the men’s final, Egypt defeated Algeria 3-2; the deciding match between Omar Assar and Maheidine Bella allowed the Egyptian side to retain their continental title, leaving Algeria with the silver medal.

The tournament has since transitioned to individual competitions, including singles and doubles brackets. In the women’s team category, Algeria earned a bronze medal. In the doubles events, the Malagasy duo of Fabio Rakotoarimanana and Antoine Razafinarivo advanced to the men’s doubles semifinals after a 3-2 quarterfinal victory over Tunisia. Conversely, the Malagasy women’s pair of Hanitra Karen Raharimanana and Vony Ange Randriantsoa was eliminated in the quarterfinals by an Algerian duo. Additionally, Algerian player Mehdi Bouloussa has withdrawn from the competition due to a back injury.

As individual stages progress, Moroccan players have faced difficulties in the knockout rounds, including a loss by local competitor Reda to Egypt’s Omar Assar. These matches have prompted discussions regarding the disparity in training conditions between professionalized national programs and athletes who must balance sports with work or studies. Meanwhile, Togo’s campaign has ended following losses in both team and individual categories, with players Elias Agbodjan, Sédik Tchagolé, and Abdourazaq Soufianou failing to advance past the group stages or quarterfinals.
