Cultural festivities centered on Afro-Mexican traditions and regional heritage have been organized across Mexico. In Oaxaca, the Guelaguetza Afro La Rejunjuneada was scheduled to begin in San Marquitos with storytelling and a photography exhibition titled ‘Luz, Tiempo y Memoria’. The celebrations were set to culminate in Chacahua La Isla on the Day of the Afro-Mexican Black People, featuring dances, food expos, and traditional music from ten municipalities in the Costa region.

Additionally, Oaxaca was named the guest state for the 2026 Day of the Dead Festival in Zacatecas. This event included a Guelaguetza showcase featuring a cultural parade with traditional music, dance, and costumes to promote Mexican cultural diversity.
