Authorities are investigating the murder of 55-year-old security guard Walter Avallone, who was found dead in his vehicle near Trentova bay in Agropoli. Preliminary findings indicated the victim died from a single gunshot to the throat. Surveillance footage showed a suspect in dark clothing fleeing the scene on foot with two bags taken from the victim’s car.

Subsequent forensic work led to the recovery of a 7.65 caliber bullet from the vehicle. Ballistics evidence suggests the fatal shot may have been fired by an individual sitting in the passenger seat. While a blank pistol was located in the car, the actual murder weapon has not been found. Investigators have also searched a B&B in Vibonati where Avallone had been staying, though no significant evidence has been recovered. The Prosecutor's Office of Vallo della Lucania is coordinating the investigation.
