Developments in artificial intelligence infrastructure are expanding through both regional physical construction and global corporate partnerships.

In Costa Rica, the firm Quantum has proposed the Quantum AI Free Zone Campus in Limón. This 42-hectare project is intended to be the nation’s first data center complex designed for hyperscale computing and AI. The development is planned in three phases to reach a total capacity of 200MW by the end of 2027, requiring significant electrical and water infrastructure.

Simultaneously, Qualcomm and Amazon have announced a collaboration to develop customized silicon and next-generation AI data center infrastructure. This partnership aims to enable large-scale AI inference by combining Qualcomm’s power-efficient processing and silicon design with Amazon’s secure AI infrastructure. The collaboration also includes work on high-performance optical connectivity solutions.
