Research indicates a growing integration of artificial intelligence into consumer purchasing behaviors and search processes.

A study in the United States found that generative AI models exhibit a bias toward established brands, being three times more likely to search for familiar names than unfamiliar ones. In ten different sectors, the share of searches for familiar brands ranged from 41% to 82%, suggesting that strong brand memory provides a significant advantage in AI-driven search environments.

In the Baltic region, consumer trends show a significant shift toward AI-assisted shopping. In Estonia, research indicates that one in three consumers has utilized artificial intelligence during their shopping processes, primarily for comparing products and obtaining feature overviews.

In Lithuania, recent survey data from Norstat for the fintech platform Adyen reveals that nearly half of consumers have used AI to assist with purchasing decisions. Similar to the Estonian market, Lithuanian shoppers use these tools to compare products, review features, and identify items meeting specific needs. This trend has caused concern among approximately one-third of Lithuanian retailers, who fear a loss of direct customer relationships and visibility into the consumer journey. However, experts note that these platforms may also serve as new sales channels that could increase revenue if utilized correctly.
