The integration of artificial intelligence into the educational landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean continues to evolve through institutional policy and practical application. Following the establishment of the UNESCO and ECLAC AI in education observatory in Chile, regional efforts have shifted toward large-scale technical training and ethical implementation.

In Mexico, the Public Center for AI Training has entered its second generation, with a goal to certify 25,000 young people in technical skills such as cybersecurity and data analysis by the end of 2026, supported by corporations including Google and Microsoft. Concurrently, discussions in Sinaloa have highlighted the necessity for ethical guidelines to prevent academic plagiarism.

Argentina has seen continued momentum through the Mendoza Aumentada program and the International Education Congress in San Luis, which addresses AI’s impact on pedagogy. In Uruguay, the University of the Republic (Udelar) is focusing on the ethical use of AI within healthcare services, specifically regarding data protection.

Despite these advancements, the digital divide remains a critical concern. In Costa Rica, reports persist regarding the resource gap between private and public institutions concerning digital infrastructure and specialized AI training for educators.
