Automotive Integrated Overhead Systems GmbH (AIOS), a German supplier of components such as headliners for Mercedes-Benz luxury models, has filed for insolvency proceedings under self-administration through the Bremen District Court.

The company employs approximately 300 people across sites in Überherrn-Altforweiler, Bremen, and Sindelfingen. While contracts with Mercedes-Benz are expected to continue until 2030, the company has faced economic difficulties, including periods of short-time work in 2024 and 2025.

The IG Metall union has criticized the filing, noting that the application was submitted in Bremen rather than in Saarland. Union representative Ralf Cavelius expressed “Argwohn” (suspicion) regarding the self-administration process, arguing that current management should not lead the restructuring. In response to the announcement, employees voted overwhelmingly, with 97.2 percent in favor of an indefinite strike.
