In mid‑June 2026 Air Algérie launched service to Libreville via Douala and opened the Algiers‑Luanda route, signalling a wider African expansion. By late July the carrier received its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 (named “Freedom”) and its first ATR 72‑600 (“Tassili”), as part of a programme that also foresees Airbus A330‑900neo and A320neo types. The deliveries were marked by the inauguration of the 14,250 m² Air Taste Factory, able to produce up to 40,000 meals daily.

Transport Minister Saïd Sayoud linked the new aircraft to four upcoming international routes – Brazzaville, Conakry, Warsaw and Berlin – positioning Algiers as a hub between Africa, Europe and Asia. A dedicated maintenance subsidiary is slated for launch before the end of 2026.

During a mid‑July visit to Berlin, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced a direct Algiers‑Berlin flight for November 2026 and signed a strategic Algeria‑Germany partnership covering political dialogue, trade, energy, security, culture, science and migration, with particular emphasis on hydrogen and renewable‑energy projects.

At the end of July Air Algérie took delivery of two additional Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets, named “Africa” and “Peace”. Each seats 160‑210 passengers, uses about 20 % less fuel and supports a plan to grow the fleet to roughly 50 aircraft, increase capacity, launch new routes and raise frequencies across Africa, Europe and the Middle East, and reach 9.8 million passengers in 2026.
