Ajax head coach Míchel Sánchez has addressed team performance and player development following a loss to Hajduk Split. Sánchez defended young left-back Jofre Torrents, characterizing the defeat as a collective failure. He noted a positive response from the squad in a subsequent match against FC Groningen and expressed confidence in competing in the Conference League.

Former coach Frank de Boer described the current tactical style under Sánchez as a ‘relief’ due to increased dynamism. In discussions regarding team leadership, Sánchez praised goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen for his professional mentality and role in securing a victory against Sparta Rotterdam, describing him as one of the best in the world and a vital locker room leader. Regarding striker Tolu Arokodare, Sánchez noted the player is a fan favorite but emphasized the need for more consistency in pressing and defensive intensity.

Following a 1-0 victory against AZ, captain Davy Klaassen noted that the team struggled to play out from the back under pressure after the opening fifteen minutes. Klaassen also addressed his own tactical adjustment to a makeshift right-wing role under Sánchez, stating the position suits him and provides extra midfield presence.

Striker Tolu Arokodare, currently on loan from Wolverhampton, has since described the club and its facilities as “heaven.” Arokodare, who has scored nine goals in fourteen official matches, characterized his relationship with Sánchez as highly positive and dynamic, despite frequent and intense discussions regarding professional development. He also noted that while communication remains effective despite language barriers, the goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen can be “irritating” during training due to his high number of saves.
