Al Ahly SC recently excluded players Emam Ashour and Mohamed Hany from its squad, leading to media speculation that the move was a disciplinary measure to enforce team commitment. Analysts described the exclusion as a ‘warning shot’ to prevent complacency.

Following these reports, the club issued an official statement regarding Ashour’s absence from matches, including the fixture against Al Mokawloon Al Arab. The club clarified that the decision is based strictly on technical reasons determined by the coaching staff. Al Ahly emphasized that Ashour continues to participate in group training and adheres to team instructions, denying reports of disciplinary issues or tensions related to contract negotiations. Ashour has been absent from four out of nine league games this season.

New reports indicate that Ashour may be dealing with physical ailments. Islam Gamal, his personal strength and conditioning coach, reported that the player has been suffering from persistent adductor muscle pain and pelvic inflammation. These issues reportedly began during the 2026 World Cup and affect his ability to rotate and change direction effectively. Additionally, team doctor Ahmed Gaballah confirmed that Hussein El Shahat is experiencing lower abdominal muscle pain and has been prescribed rest.
