Developments: 2. Albacete Balompié has dismissed head coach Alberto González and his coaching staff following a poor start to the LaLiga Hypermotion season. The club sits at the bottom of the table, having earned only one point from a possible 24 across eight matches. González, who had previously secured the team’s survival in the prior campaign and led a Copa del Rey run that included defeating Real Madrid, leaves with a record of 39 wins, 30 draws, and 39 losses in 108 official matches. His dismissal followed a 1-3 defeat against SD Eibar. Following the vacancy, the club has appointed Joseba Etxeberria as its new first-team manager through the end of the current season. A Basque coach with extensive experience in the Second Division at clubs including Tenerife, Mirandés, and Eibar, Etxeberria intends to implement a tactical approach focused on “high pressure and verticality.” Etxeberria will be supported by assistant coach José Antonio Valle ‘Pitxi’ and fitness coach Javi González. He is scheduled to begin training at the Ciudad Deportiva Andrés Iniesta before his official presentation at the Carlos Belmonte stadium. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-04: Albacete Balompié appoints Joseba Etxeberria as new manager Joseba Etxeberria has been named the new manager of Albacete Balompié, replacing Alberto González to lead the club's effort to escape the bottom of LaLiga Hypermotion. 9 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/albacete-balompi-dismisses-manager-alberto-gonzlez ### 2026-10-02: Albacete dismisses manager Alberto González amid LaLiga Hypermotion crisis Albacete Balompié has sacked manager Alberto González amid a winless start to the season, while Cádiz CF secured their first victory with a 4-0 win over Leganés. 14 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/albacete-balompi-faces-crisis-amid-winless-start --- Cite as: Albacete Balompié managerial change.
