Alessia Russo achieved a historic milestone in the Women’s Champions League by scoring a hat-trick during Arsenal’s 3–0 victory over Benfica at Meadow Park. Her three goals, consisting of a strike in the 39th minute, a header in the 66th minute, and a penalty in the 79th minute, brought her total to 23 goals in the competition. This performance surpassed the previous English record of 21 goals held by Fran Kirby.

The victory moved Arsenal to seven points after three matches, placing them second in their group. Arsenal head coach Renée Slegers described Russo as a leader and a “role model” for the squad.
