Developments: 2. Alex Karp, the CEO and founder of the AI defense firm Palantir, has acquired approximately 15,000 hectares of forest, mountain, and marshland in the Jämtland region of Sweden. The land, located near the village of Storsjö Kapell, was purchased from the forestry company SCA through a newly formed company called Cladonia Skog AB for approximately 240 million Swedish kronor. The acquisition has caused unease and tension among local residents and hunting associations. Community members reportedly learned of the change in ownership only after receiving notices regarding the termination of existing lease agreements and hunting rights. Local concerns focus on a perceived lack of transparency and the potential influence Karp may wield due to his wealth and the nature of Palantir, which provides software to military and security agencies. While the specific purpose of the land remains unconfirmed, local speculation includes preparations for food security or the construction of a mountain bunker, noting Karp’s previous remarks regarding preparing for “future wars.” ## Timeline ### 2026-10-05: Alex Karp acquires 15,000 hectares of Swedish forest land Palantir CEO Alex Karp has acquired 15,000 hectares of forest land in Jämtland, Sweden, via Cladonia Skog AB, sparking local concern over his influence in the region. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/alex-karp-acquires-15000-hectares-of-swedish-forest-land ### 2026-10-03: Palantir CEO Alex Karp acquires 15,000 hectares of Swedish forest Palantir CEO Alex Karp has purchased 15,000 hectares of forest and mountain land in Sweden's Härjedalen region, sparking local concern over transparency and his future use of the territory. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/palantir-ceo-alex-karp-acquires-15000-hectares-of-swedish-forest --- Cite as: Alex Karp land acquisition in Sweden.
