Sources: 4. Developments: 2. Alibaba Cloud has achieved recognition as a leader in multiple 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant reports. Initially, the company was named a leader in Strategic Cloud Platform Services, becoming the only provider from China and the Asia-Pacific region to join global entities like Amazon AWS, Microsoft, and Google in this category. Following this, Alibaba Cloud secured a second leadership position in the Gartner report for Generative AI Model Providers. This dual recognition underscores the company’s transition from traditional cloud infrastructure toward an “AI+Cloud” strategy, focusing on an “AI Native and Agent Native Cloud” model. The company’s technological ecosystem includes proprietary Pingtouge Zhenwu AI chips, the Bailian large model service platform, and the Qwen model family. The Qwen series, which includes the open-weight multimodal Qwen3.8-Flash model, has reportedly surpassed 3 billion global downloads and facilitated the creation of over 300,000 derivative models. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-18: Alibaba Cloud named Leader in two 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant reports Alibaba Cloud has been named a Leader in two 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant reports for Generative AI Model Providers and Strategic Cloud Platform Services. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/alibaba-cloud-named-leader-in-two-2026-gartner-magic-quadrant-reports ### 2026-09-10: Alibaba Cloud enters Gartner Leaders quadrant for strategic cloud services Alibaba Cloud has become the first Asia-Pacific provider to enter the Gartner Magic Quadrant “Leaders” quadrant for Strategic Cloud Platform Services, driven by its AI Native cloud transformation. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/alibaba-cloud-enters-gartner-leaders-quadrant-for-strategic-cloud-services --- Cite as: Alibaba Cloud Gartner leadership recognition.
