Sources: 4. Developments: 2. During the Michigan Senate race, Republican nominee Mike Rogers and former President Donald Trump accused Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed of having ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sayed has denied these connections, characterizing claims regarding his family as hearsay. The accusations involve El-Sayed’s past political commentary, such as his 2011 support for the Egyptian uprising, and his involvement with organizations like the Muslim American Society. Further scrutiny emerged regarding a past FBI raid on the home of El-Sayed’s mother, Fatten Elkomy, in the early 2000s. The raid was reportedly connected to an investigation into the Islamic American Relief Agency (IARA), an organization closed by the FBI after the Treasury Department designated its network for funding terrorism. While court exhibits reportedly named Elkomy 14 times in connection to the agency, she was not charged with a crime. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-28: Allegations of Muslim Brotherhood ties emerge in Michigan Senate race Democratic Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed faces accusations from Republicans regarding alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and its associated organizations. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/allegations-of-muslim-brotherhood-ties-emerge-in-michigan-senate-race ### 2026-10-24: FBI raid on mother of Michigan Senate candidate revealed Resurfaced writings from Eman Abdelhadi reveal the FBI raided the family home of Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed in the early 2000s during a terror financing investigation. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/fbi-raid-on-mother-of-michigan-senate-candidate-revealed --- Cite as: Allegations regarding Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan Senate race.
