Developments: 2. Preparations for the 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in the French Alps have progressed with significant investments in infrastructure and site selection. In mid-October, the French state and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region signed a funding protocol to invest 300 million euros into transport infrastructure. The budget is split equally between the two parties and targets rail network renovations, road security for the RN90 access route, and alternative mobility options such as cable cars and cycling paths. The initiative aims to support two million expected visitors and provide a lasting legacy for mountain territories. By late October, the organizing committee announced that the La Saulaie district in Oullins-Pierre-Bénite has been selected as the site for the Olympic Village. The 28,000-square-meter complex, developed by the Sogeprom-Demathieu Bard Immobilier group, will house approximately 1,650 athletes and staff. Following the games, the village is scheduled to be converted into a mixed-use urban area featuring permanent housing, offices, and shops. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-27: La Saulaie selected as Olympic Village site for Alpes 2030 The La Saulaie district in Oullins-Pierre-Bénite has been chosen to host the Olympic Village for the Alpes 2030 Winter Games, serving 1,650 athletes before converting to permanent residential use. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/la-saulaie-selected-as-olympic-village-site-for-alpes-2030 ### 2026-10-16: France allocates 300 million euros for Alpes 2030 transport The French state and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region will invest 300 million euros to upgrade transport infrastructure for the 2030 Winter Olympics, focusing on rail, roads, and sustainable mobility. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/france-allocates-300-million-euros-for-alpes-2030-transport --- Cite as: Alpes 2030 Winter Olympics preparations.
