Amazon MGM Studios is developing a new television series to relaunch the Stargate science fiction franchise. The project will be led by Jac Schaeffer, creator of Marvel series ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Agatha All Along’, who will direct alongside Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures.

This new initiative follows the cancellation of a previous reboot attempt led by Martin Gero in June 2026. That project was reportedly halted due to executive concerns that the vision might not possess “sufficient broad appeal beyond the existing fanbase”.

While a writers’ room is expected to open soon, specific information regarding the plot, cast, or release date remains undisclosed. The series is anticipated to be several years away from release.
