Preparations for the 2026 general elections in Amazonas have progressed from initial logistical and legal reinforcements to specific preparations for the second round of voting. Initially, the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-AM) focused on the logistical challenges of distributing electronic voting machines across the state via fluvial, terrestrial, and aerial transport to reach remote municipalities. This phase included managing regional difficulties such as river low tides and energy supply, as well as the establishment of the Extraordinary Electoral Action Nucleus (NAE-Eleitoral) by the Public Ministry of Amazonas to provide legal and technical support. As the process moved toward the second round, the TRE-AM shifted focus to updating the 8,157 machines distributed across 61 municipalities. This stage involves loading second-round media, conducting hardware self-tests, and verifying seals. Officials noted that this phase is expected to be faster than the first round because the machines already contain voter identification data and there are fewer contested positions. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-16: TRE-AM prepares electronic voting machines for second round TRE-AM has started preparing 8,157 electronic voting machines for the 2026 second-round elections across Amazonas, including 4,013 machines for the Manaus metropolitan area. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/tre-am-prepares-electronic-voting-machines-for-second-round ### 2026-09-24: Amazonas prepares for 2026 elections with logistical and legal reinforcements Amazonas prepares for the 2026 elections with TRE-AM managing complex logistics and the MPAM establishing a specialized nucleus to support electoral prosecutors. 29 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sine-manaus-offers-over-800-job-vacancies-in-amazonas --- Cite as: Amazonas 2026 general election preparations.
