In Moldova, authorities have begun issuing sanctions to combat the spread of ambrosia, an invasive weed known for causing severe allergic reactions and reducing agricultural productivity. 

Environment Minister Gheorghe Hajder reported that approximately 100 fines have been issued this season for failure to comply with removal obligations. Responsibility for managing the plant lies with landowners, including private individuals, local public administrations, and the state. The Environmental Protection Inspectorate issues these fines when owners or local authorities fail to intervene following notification of the plant’s presence. To assist in coordination, the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) maintains a map of ambrosia outbreaks to identify risk zones.
